Links, hobbies,

The University of
Georgia currently has an enrollment of about 38,000 students. It is growing
rapidly, and its new facilities including sports and performing arts centers
are first rate.
My main hobby is ham radio . I am licensed as NO9E in USA and as
SP8FWB in Poland. Also operated as VK2ISF in
Australia, as 7P8NO from Lesotho, as
CE0Y/NO9E (read a story) from Easter Island, altogether from > 50 countries on 6 continents.
My DXCC count as of 2021 is 337 confirmed with earned DXCC Honor Roll and 9B
DXCC.
In Athens my station includes K3 transceiver, Expert
2k-FA amplifier, 5-band cubical quad on top of the roof and dipoles.
I established a remote station in Washington, GA,
where there are no limits on antenna heights and man-made electrical noise is
much lower. The station uses Flex 6600, PG XL amplifier, and a 30m high tower
with beams 40-10 beam at 30m and 20-10 beam at 20m. The tower supports 4-square
on 80m and is shunt fed for 160m. Receive antennas include 200-300m long
beverages in 7 directions. See my ham radio website.
My mobile/portable setup is FT-891 + ATAS-100 car
antenna, with slingshot for portable antenna installations, a total of about 7
kg. The real portable setup is Elecraft KX3 with Li-Ion batteries (weight with
batteries and antenna tuner < 2 kg) and KX2 (1 kg).
I also enjoy hiking in the mountains, biking in the
city, swimming, skiing and playing bridge.
