General information
The breeding and genetics group at UGA is a leader in developing practical genetic evaluation solutions for the livestock industry. From theoretical developments to efficient programming and novel traits, students can obtain the knowledge and experience necessary to achieve their career goals in industry or academia. Students work on a variety of projects in collaboration with our industry partners and typically have multiple job offers before graduation. We are sponsored by some of the largest U.S. breeding companies and institutions in beef, dairy, swine and poultry. We have international contacts with leading research centers worldwide. Our group consists of 4 professors, 3-6 Ph.D. scientists and 5-10 graduate students. For details about research topics in our team, see the research section.
